Elbit signs $40 million defense deal

Israel's Elbit Systems has signed a contract with Israel's Defense Ministry to the tune of $40 million to supply a special defense system.
The system called Cardom integrates a 120 mm mortar with innovative fire control, navigation and automatic aiming and propulsion systems. The system has a range of upto 8,000 meters and can fire 16 rounds per minute.
The system is already used by infantry units in Israel's Defense Forces as well as armies around the world including the U.S. Army.
Elbit Systems operates in the areas of aerospace, land and naval systems, command control, communications, computers, intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance.
It also upgrades existing military platforms and develops new technologies for defense purposes.
