Israel Campaign Aids Moscow Children's Home
In the distant Israel city of Tel Aviv, a charitable concert took place in support of the Moscow Jewish Children's Home "Children of the Future". The event involved many movers and shakers in the business world, as well as other spheres of activity, who came out to show their solidarity with the goals of this campaign and to express their respect to the Chabad Lubavitch emissaries whose hard work and dedication have made such orphanages possible in the Former Soviet Union.
Chief Ashkenazi Rabbi of Israel Yona Metzger also participated in the fundraiser, noting the surprising limits within which Chabad Lubavitch emissaries have had to work in this part of the world. He underlined the exceptional role played by Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar in the revitalization of Jewish life in the CIS and Baltic countries. In their turn, officials from the Embassy of the Russian Federation also had words of great appreciation for those who have demonstrated such commitment to promoting such social causes.
Rabbi Yaakov Fridman, the organizer of this benevolent campaign, remarked on the amazing contribution that has been made by Lev Leviev to not only this children's home, but to hundreds of Jewish educational and social institutions operating across the Former Soviet Union. Lev Leviev, an internationally-renowned philanthropist, serves both as Head of the Ohr Avner Foundation and President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of the CIS and Baltic Countries.
