Glenn Beck plans big rally in Jerusalem

Glenn Beck held a big rally entitled “Restoring Honor” on the U.S. Capitol Mall last year, and now he plans to stage a “Restoring Courage” rally this August in Jerusalem.

It will be a “life altering event” and the “very gates of hell” would try to prevent it, the Mount Vernon, Washington, native and graduate of Bellingham’s Sehome High School said on his radio show.

“God is involved in man’s affairs, but so is the force of darkness,” Beck said Monday. “I believe I’ve been asked to stand in Jerusalem. Many in the history of man have had the opportunity to stand with the Jewish people . . . and they have failed.”

Estimates of the “Restoring Honor” crowd in Washington raised from about 90,000 to Beck’s claim that 500,000 people were on the Mall.

A post on Beck’s website claims:

“I invite you to join me in Israel this summer to stand together and show the world what living a life of faith and honor really means. I invite you to join me in my quest to Restore Courage.”

He added on the radio: “We have gone to the capitals of our states and to the capitals of our government. We have talked to all the power brokers. The only power broker, the only seat of government that can and will solve this problem with or without us is God.

“It is time to return inside the walls that surround Jerusalem and stand with people of all faiths, all around the world.”

During the popular uprising against Egypt’s President Mubarak earlier this year, Beck used his Fox News program to suggest that a conspiracy or unholy alliance of radical Islamists and communists was seeking power in the Middle East.

The commentary drew criticism from fellow conservatives. It has since been announced that Beck will end his TV program on Fox News later this year.
