Elie Wiesel and Birthright Israel alumni Take Back Zionism - Join Us
The Birthright Israel Alumni Community is launching a new campaign to TAKE BACK ZIONISM and we need your help.
Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Elie Wiesel, is kicking off the effort on Tuesday, Feb 1st in NYC together with Birthright Israel Co-Founder, Michael Steinhardt at an event called "Zionism is Humanitarianism". One thousand alumni will gather in celebration of Zionism and its humanitarian work all over the world from Haiti to the Sudan, recognizing Zionism's great contributions to the world. Even if you can’t make it to the event in person, we invite you to watch it live on our website, www.takebackzionism.org, at 7:30 p.m. EST.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, WE HOPE YOU WILL LOG ONTO www.takebackzionism.org AND LEND YOUR VOICE TO THE CAMPAIGN along with thousands of other alumni and friends from around the world who are defining Zionism in their own terms and taking back our word from those who attack it. From Buenos Aires to Toronto, to Tel Aviv, our alumni community is actively supporting Israel by defining Zionism for a new generation.
Zionism means many things to many people who love Israel. You have been to Israel. What does it mean to you?

Our Mission:
Zionism is not just about conflict and politics. It is a centuries' old idea deeply rooted in the Jewish community and tradition. Zionism is many things. It is land, history, religion, politics, peoplehood, culture, national destiny, self-determination. It is innovation and tradition. Zionism is ancient and modern.
Contemporary discourse seeks to narrowly define Zionism and attack it by limiting its scope. We refuse to accept others' definitions and misrepresentations. We seek to Take Back Zionism and define it in our own terms, as a young generation who loves Israel.
You've been to Israel. You have an opinion. Zionism is many things - what is it to you?
