One of the 10 best hostels in the world opened less than three years ago and welcomes backpackers of all ages and nationalities.

Hostelworld rates Jerusalem's Abraham Hostel one of the 10 best large hostels in the world. Here you can meet fellow travelers from other countries, use the communal kitchen to cook a meal, relax at the bar and get touring advice.

Co-owner Yaron Burgin explains: "Two and a half years ago, we took over the building and we renovated it, to turn it into the largest private hostel in Israel, with 75 rooms, 260 beds and the best atmosphere you can find in a hostel in Israel."

"You don't feel kind of freaked out that you're by yourself in an unknown country," says one guest.

People come to Abraham Hostel from all over the world. "So in the same dorm room you can have two German guys, an Australian 70-year-old golden-aged traveler, and a lady from the Netherlands."
