Israeli director picks up award at Detroit film festival

Israeli director Gilad Schenker won an award at the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival on Monday for his short film Lavan.
He picked up the award for Best Short Film, a week after he received the Best Director Prize atat the Washington film festival.
Lavan tells the story of Gioza, one of the female 'White Torture' prison guards, who falls into an obsessive love with Nick, theprisoner under her supervision, without him knowing of her existence. Althoughinspired by the Iranian idea of the 'White Torture', the events and characters depicted in the film are purely fictitious.
Mr. Shankar thanked those who helped him in making the film.
