Israeli film "Restoration", directed by Joseph Madmony, won the main prize at the 46th international film festival in the Czech spa city of Karlovy Vary on Saturday.
A jury led by Hungarian director Istvan Szabo chose the film starring Sasson Gabai about a struggling furniture restoration workshop out of 12 movies competing for the 30,000-dollar (21,000-euro) Crystal Globe prize.
French director Pascal Rabate won the prize for the best director for his comedy "Holidays by the Sea".
US actor, screenwriter and director John Turturro, who presented the world premiere of his film "Somewhere Tonight" at the festival, received the festival president's prize in the city about 130 kilometres (80 miles) west of Prague.
British actress Judi Dench, the "M" of the James Bond movies since "GoldenEye" shot in 1995, received the Crystal Globe for her contribution to world cinematography after the festival started on July 1.
Another star guest at the festival was US actor, director and producer John Malkovich ("Dangerous Liaisons", "Burn After Reading"), who presented his designer collection of men's clothing at the festival.
