We are proud to announce the Second "Tour the Israel Road Race 2011", a four stages ultra-marathon road cycling challenge through the amazing landscapes of the Holy land.
"Tour the Israel 2011" is Scheduled to take place on March 7-10, 2011.
Pedal across the Land of the Bible, from snow-capped Mt. Hermon in the North to sunny Eilat on the coast of the Red Sea - A 613 km, 7350 meters climb cycling challenge passing through stunning regions, cities and sites bounded with biblical history and topography of Old & New Testament lands.
Explore the Galilee hills and their magnificent vistas, legendary Massada, Negev Desert expanses, the Sea of Galilee, the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. History, religion, archeology and current events all play their part in telling the timeless story of one of the worlds most awe-inspiring regions on earth.
"Tour the Israel 2011" has been designed as a 2 person team competition. This highly challenging and enjoyable competition features separate categories based on gender and age: Men; Women; Mixed Gender; Adults, Masters (the cumulative age of team members exceeds 80 years) and Grand Masters (cumulative age to exceed 100 years). Daily laps will run between 137 and 193 km, with the ranking each pair receives based on the time clocked by its slower rider.
The stages:
1- Monday, March 7th: Kfar Giladi - Afulla 137km with 1,160m of climbing
2- Tuesday, March 8th: Afula - Ein-Bokek 193km with 1,900m of climbing
3- Wednesday, March 9th: Ein-Bokek - Mitzpe Ramon 140km with 2,400m of climbing
4- Thursday, March 10th: Mitzpe Ramon - Eilat 145km with 1,850m of climbing
"Tour the Israel" is being organized by Zimuk Ltd, producers of dozens of Israel's largest and most complex bike riding event and hundreds of bike races all over the country. The company served as official organizers and managers of competitions held under the aegis of the Israel Cycling Federation and currently it manages the majority of Israel's major cycling events.
The race is held under the aegis of the Israel Cycling Federation.
The registration fee is only 2450 NIS per participant and the total prize for all nine categories is over $10,000 US. The services provided includes police traffic supervision, transportation of participants luggage, logistic services technical service, medical service, food and drinks along the way, prizes, time keeping, road book, after race meals, cocktail party at finishing day and a finisher T-shirt.
