Wyatt Brand reps Israel for SXSW
Wyatt Brand is charged with bringing exposure to Israel’s cultural scene during the South by Southwest Interactive, Music and Film Festivals this March.
A cultural convoy of about 40 to 50 Israeli techies, musicians and filmmakers — calling themselves I: Made in Israel — will be attending this year’s conference. This is the second time Israeli representatives have come to the conference, but their presence this year will be three times as large as last time.
The Consulate General of Israel in Houston is working with Wyatt Brand on the South By initiative.
David Wyatt, owner of Wyatt, said he looks forward to raising the profile of the film, music and technology that’s happening in Israel — particularly its energetic, metropolitan city of Tel Aviv. One challenge for them: The arts and culture of Israel is often overshadowed by political news or religious and historical reference, Wyatt said.
“We are telling the story of the creative life and talent that’s in places like Tel Aviv,” Wyatt said. “It’s about getting people excited about the [arts] and then making the association that it’s from Israel.”
Wyatt Brand, a communications and branding firm that specializes in working with culture and arts organizations, said gaining Israel as a client has been a great affirmation for the agency.
Since immersing itself in Israeli culture, the Wyatt brand team has learned about the country’s diverse film community and music scene, which includes heavy metal, hip hop, alternative and indie rock.
“To get a client as big as Israel is really exciting. The culture has blown us away,” he said.
