At a work meeting on August 16, 2011, IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Benny Gantz presented Israeli President Shimon Peres with a surprise birthday gift—a photo of an IDF General Staff meeting from 1953 that pictures Peres while he was Defense Minister and a recent photo of the two officials on a base visit.
