An Israeli trauma program which helped children following the Second Lebanon War in 2006, will be used to assist Japanese children recovering from the trauma of the tsunami that struck their country earlier this year.

The post trauma recovery program called Hibuki, was created by the American Joint Distribution Committee together with the Israel Ministry of Education's Psychological Counseling Service and the Department of Psychology at Tel Aviv University.

A team of experts recently visited Japan to introduce the program and train teachers and other professionals in the technique.

Judy Amit, the JDC's global director said the organization works in Israel and places such as Haiti and South Asia, and treats people suffering from trauma especially children affected by war or natural disasters.
